Vitalia's History

Born in Cairns.
Inspired by Italy.

It started in 2012, when Vitalia and Antonio left Italy with a suitcase full of recipes and one simple dream: real Italian food, made properly. Nine years ago that dream became Vitalia's, our restaurant at The Pier in Cairns, now a bit of a local institution and still the heart of everything we do. We've loaded that same dough, that same oven heat, and that same obsession onto a truck, so your event gets the real thing too.

Do you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available and can be selected when you book online. We'll make sure everyone's covered.
What size are the pizzas?
+
Our pizzas are 9 to 10 inches (around 23 to 25 cm), classic Neapolitan size. Made to order, straight from the oven, one at a time. Fresh, not fast.
What if it rains on the day?
+
No stress. Our optional gazebo set-up lets us keep cooking and serving in most weather conditions. It's Cairns after all. We'll sort it out.
How much space does the truck need?
+
The truck is 3.15m long and 1.85m wide, compact enough for most backyards and driveways. When we open up to serve, allow 2.5m of height clearance overhead and around 65cm extra length for the rear serving platform. In total: plan for roughly 4m x 5m of clear, flat space. We'll confirm access details when you book so there are no surprises on the day.
Do you need power at the venue?

Yes. We need a standard 10-amp power outlet within 20 metres of where the truck will be parked. We bring our own 20-metre extension lead, so just make sure the outlet is accessible. No generator needed on your end.
What's included in the service?
+
Everything you need. Pizzas come out of the oven fresh and are served on round wooden boards at our service table, set up next to the truck with a full tablecloth. We bring napkins and plates. A staff member is on-site throughout the entire service. You just enjoy the party.
How far do you travel from Cairns?
+
We service Cairns and surrounding areas within roughly 100km. Travel is free within 25km of Cairns. Beyond that, a small travel surcharge applies based on your postcode and will be shown clearly at checkout before you pay anything.
How does booking and payment work?
+
Book and pay online in minutes. If your event is more than 3 weeks away, you pay a 30% deposit now to lock in the date, and the balance 3 weeks before. If it's within 3 weeks, it's paid in full at booking. Cancel more than 3 weeks out and you get a full refund; cancel within 3 weeks and you keep everything except the 30% deposit. Simple and transparent.
How long does the truck stay?

We arrive 45 to 60 minutes early to set up. Service runs 2 to 3 hours, cooking fresh throughout. Then we pack down and leave the space as we found it.
